Automation & AI
Three layers of automation, and you decide the order
Instant keyword replies for the simple things, a visual flow builder for structured journeys, and an AI assistant for everything in between. A configurable priority decides which engine answers first — your automation behaves predictably instead of fighting itself.
What are basic replies?
Keyword-triggered answers: when the message is, or contains, a trigger phrase, reply with text, an image or audio — with variables filled from the contact. Opening hours, price list, address: answered in a second, at any hour, without a person.
What can the flow builder do?
Drag-and-drop conversation journeys started by real business events: a contact's first message ever, keywords (exact, contains, starts-with or regex), a new contact, a contact joining a group or entering a segment, a ticket opening or closing, a reply to a campaign, an incoming photo or document, a message outside business hours, or a contact going quiet for a chosen time. Steps send text, media, templates, interactive buttons and lists; actions add or remove the contact from groups, update contact fields and tickets, add internal notes, email your team, wait for a delay or for the contact's reply (with a timeout branch), split traffic A/B, enrol the contact in a drip sequence, call an external API and use its response later, hand over to the AI assistant, or hand over to a human — which pauses automation for that conversation. Flows can also be started from the inbox or from your own systems over the API.
What are drip sequences?
Timed series of up to ten template messages — day 0 welcome, day 3 follow-up, day 7 offer — that contacts enter automatically when they join a group or a segment, from a flow, or in bulk when you activate the sequence. Sending respects your number's messaging tier and throughput, every step is a Meta-approved template so a sequence never breaches the 24-hour rule, and contacts who opted out are skipped.
How does the AI assistant work?
You upload your documents — price lists, policies, product sheets — and the assistant answers customers from that knowledge base, in chat or even as spoken audio in a voice you pick. Start and stop keywords hand the conversation to a human on demand, it can auto-enable for every new conversation, and agents keep a per-conversation on/off switch. It runs on your own OpenAI key or the platform's.
Is a WhatsApp AI bot still allowed in 2026?
Yes — business-scoped assistants (support, orders, bookings, product questions) are exactly what Meta's rules permit. What Meta banned in 2026 is general-purpose chatbots on the API — ChatGPT-style open-ended assistants. An assistant grounded in your own business documents is the allowed kind, and that is the kind Whapier builds.
